Annual
Fall Yard Sale
We
are always looking for Gently Used items for this annual event.
Furniture, tools, and knick-knacks. But no books or clothing, please.
Gingersnap Girls Foundation's Yard last Sale was held Oct. 27th
and turned out to be a great day. L'il Chief, our mascot, was once
again in attendance. A big THANK YOU to all who helped and attended.

Autumnfest Event A Great Success!
In
October the Gingersnap Girls Foundation participated at Southern
States' Autumnfest which was held at the Southern States store in
Purcellville, Virginia. L'il Chief, our mascot, was once again a
big hit with all. He especially enjoyed meeting all of the children
who came to our booth.
Southern States has been such a kind supporter of the Foundation.
We were happy to have met so many wonderful people and hope that
everyone will put this most worthwhile and fun family event on their
calendars for October, 2008.
Hay Plea
We are in desperate need of hay
Due
to the drought, our supplier has run out of hay. He now has to feed
the horse hay to his cattle.
Hay is SOOOO expensive now - we really will need help for the upcoming
winter!
The
past six months has been a busy time for the Gingersnap Girls Foundation
and it looks like the future months will be even busier!
We
are so very happy that the Foundation now has a website, so that
our friends all over the country can keep up to date on the happenings
of our group and assist us in helping all horses. Thank you so much
to Cadcol Web
Design and Meredith Hilt for making it happen for us! Please
be sure to check out our website on a regular basis as we will be
updating our "happenings" and horses for adoption on a
regular basis.
The
Foundation had our annual yard sale on April 28, 2007, and we want
to thank all who donated and assisted us in making this sale a success.
Remember, don't throw out that treasure! Donate it to the Gingersnap
Girls Foundation for next year's sale!
We
are also excited to announce that we are joining Petfinder.com
within the next few weeks. Our horses and ponies that we have for
adoption will be listed on Petfinder.com and we hope that you'll
check it out. It's a great site!
We
want everyone to join us in welcoming our newest board members.
Amy Kassens Delery is a lifelong animal lover, having also served
on the board of the New Orleans SPCA. Amy and her daughters, Elizabeth
and Blair, are invaluable friends and supporters of the Gingersnap
Girls Foundation. Also, Nancy J. Hall, DVM, has graciously agreed
to join the board. Dr. Hall, of Blue Ridge Veterinary Hospital in
Purcellville, Virginia, has been a wonderful friend for many years
and been a tremendous source of support to us as our veterinarian.
We are so happy to have both of these wonderful, animal loving,
women join us.
The
Foundation is so pleased to announce that we have placed over 10
horses into loving homes in the past six months. We have recently
taken in a former polo pony, Liebling. She is a "dear one",
as her name states and she is looking for a quiet home to enjoy
her retirement. Liebling is wonderful around other horses and people!
She would make an excellent pet and can be ridden lightly. She is
barely 15 hands and wonderful!!
Southern
States Cooperative has been most kind to enroll us in their S.H.O.W.
program (please see Bag Tags page). This
program is an easy way for all to help the Gingersnap Girls continue
our work helping the equines.
In
February, the Foundation received a telephone call from Emily Breen
at Whole
Foods Market at Fair Lakes, Virginia. They wanted to donate
apples for the horses. Upon arriving at Whole Foods Market, Ann
(our founder) and Bob (our treasurer) were overwhelmed by the kindness
of the employees. Our trusty old Suburban was loaded up with bushel
after bushel of wonderful apples. The horses enjoyed them for several
weeks (apples keeping well in the cool of the barn!). Whole Foods
has been most generous to us in the past, as well, and we wish to
extend a big THANK YOU to them.
We've
kept busy these past few months introducing our "kids"
to so many people. This past week we've had visitors ranging in
age from eight years old to 84 years old! Please call us and make
an appointment to come out and visit, see what we do, and see how
you might be able to help end the suffering for one horse or pony.
